Terms of Service
Last updated: May 15, 2026
Welcome to The Slower Move. These Terms of Service outline what you can expect from us and what we ask of you when working together. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to these terms.
Our Services
The Slower Move provides senior transition support services, including:
Transition consultation and planning
Move management and coordination
Aging-in-place consulting and assessment
Decluttering and organizing
Packing and unpacking coordination
Memorabilia and memory preservation
Family communication and coordination support
Connection to local resources and referral partners
Every engagement begins with an initial consultation. Before any work begins, we will provide a written proposal outlining the scope, fees, and timeline. Work does not begin until a signed agreement and required deposit or payment are received.
Fees and Payment
Fees vary by service type:
Consultations are billed at an hourly rate. The applicable rate will be confirmed in your proposal.
Project-based services (such as move management, packing coordination, or staging) are billed at a flat project fee as outlined in your written proposal.
Other services may be billed hourly or as a package, depending on the scope agreed upon.
We accept payment by credit card, check, PayPal, and Venmo.
Late payments may result in paused or suspended services. Unpaid balances may be subject to a late fee as specified in your proposal.
Deposits
Many projects require a deposit to hold your dates and begin planning. Deposit requirements will be clearly stated in your proposal.
All deposits are 50% refundable. The remaining 50% is non-refundable regardless of the reason for cancellation, as it covers reserved time, planning, and coordination already completed on your behalf.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
We understand that transitions rarely go exactly as planned. If you need to cancel or reschedule:
More than 7 days before your scheduled start date: You may cancel and receive a refund of the refundable portion of your deposit (50%). Any additional payments made beyond the deposit will be refunded in full.
Within 7 days of your scheduled start date: The full deposit is forfeited. If significant preparation or coordination has already been completed, additional fees may apply as outlined in your proposal.
Rescheduling is accommodated when possible and subject to availability. We will always do our best to work with your timeline.
If we need to reschedule due to circumstances on our end, we will notify you promptly and offer a new date at no additional cost.
Your Responsibilities
To allow us to do our best work, we ask that you:
Provide accurate and complete information during the consultation and planning process
Ensure access to the property or space on all scheduled service days
Remove, secure, or clearly identify all personal valuables, sensitive documents, medications, financial records, jewelry, and irreplaceable items prior to any service day
Communicate any changes to timeline, scope, family decision-making, or property access as early as possible
Ensure that any other parties with decision-making authority over the property or the transition are aware of and aligned with the engagement before work begins
The Slower Move assumes no liability for loss or damage to personal valuables, sensitive documents, medications, financial records, jewelry, or irreplaceable items that were not removed or secured by the client prior to any service day, regardless of the circumstances of the loss or damage. This applies whether or not those items were disclosed to us in advance.
AThird Party Vendors
When we recommend or coordinate third party vendors — including movers, haulers, organizers, cleaners, or estate sale companies — all agreements and payments are made directly between you and the vendor. The Slower Move is not a party to those contracts and does not handle vendor payments on your behalf.
Our role is coordination and referral. We cannot guarantee vendor performance, pricing, availability, or conduct. Any disputes with a vendor are between you and that vendor directly.
Photography and Portfolio Use
We may photograph completed projects for use in our portfolio, website, and marketing materials. We will never share your address or identifying personal information without your written permission.
If you prefer that your project not be photographed, please let us know in writing before services begin.
Website Content
Our website contains original content, photography, and design elements protected by copyright. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any content from this site without written permission.
Some images on this site may be stock photography used for illustrative purposes and are not representative of specific client projects.
Limitation of Liability
The Slower Move provides transition support, guidance, and coordination. Our role is to inform, support, and help you move through this process with more clarity and less chaos. We do not guarantee outcomes.
We are not liable for outcomes related to real estate market conditions or transaction timelines, financial losses resulting from decisions you make after receiving our guidance, delays caused by circumstances outside our control, actions taken by family members or other parties involved in the transition, or indirect, consequential, or emotional distress damages of any kind.
If a concern arises, please contact us directly. We are committed to resolving issues honestly and in good faith.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. The current version will always be posted on this page. Continued use of our services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
